One-Pan Pizza Pasta

Who else feels like life has been insane since school started? Some days I look up and it’s 5 pm and I have no idea how it happened. It’s like, I’ve been busy all day and I haven’t had a single minute to think about dinner and maybe we’ll just have PB&Js and potato chips. But gahhh, the guilt! So I’ve been trying to plan more easy meals. My new favorite thing is one-pan meals

I know, I’m so behind the times! But the one-pan meals I’d tried in the past just didn’t do it for me. And then I found this Barilla® Pronto™ pasta which is meant for one-pan meals! It cooks in 10 minutes, there’s no draining required, no boiling before adding it to the sauce – you do it all in one pan! So for this One-Pan Pizza Pasta, I cooked the veggies and meats in the pan and then I added some tomato basil pasta sauce and water and then stirred the Barilla® Pronto™ Rotini right in. I let it cook for 10 minutes, stirred in some cheese, and it was ready to serve!

The entire family loved this meal. It’s everything we love about pizza – sausage, pepperoni, sauce, cheese! – in a delicious and easy pasta dish! Serve this with a salad and a loaf of garlic bread and you’ve got a quick and delicious dinner!

One-Pot Pizza Pasta
1 teaspoon olive oil
8 ounces turkey Italian sausage
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup pepperoni
2 cups tomato basil pasta sauce
2 cups water
8 ounces Barilla Pronto rotini
salt and pepper
2 cups Italian blend cheese

  1. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a over-proof skillet. Add sausage and onion; cook breaking up the sausage, until the sausage is cooked completely and the onion is soft and translucent. Add garlic and cook another 30 seconds, until fragrant. Add pepperoni. Add pasta sauce and water and stir until combined.
  2. Stir in Barilla Pronto rotini and bring to a boil. Boil about 10 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed and the pasta is cooked. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the cheese. Serve immediately.
